Doorstep Support for Cataract & LASIK Surgery: Pick-up, Drop & Follow-ups

    Quick answer

Does Wekure arrange doorstep support for eye surgery?

Wekure Health coordinates surgery-day pick-up and drop, plus follow-up support and transport where available, subject to city and booking confirmation. Surgery and examination take place at the chosen NABH-accredited partner hospital, not at home; the treating team decides your clinical care and review plan.

    Thoughtful care, clearly explained

What to know before you decide

Plan cataract or LASIK surgery-day transport and follow-up support where available, with practical help for elderly parents and families living abroad.

Doorstep support is transport and coordination, not surgery at home

The service helps with the practical journey around hospital-based eye care. It does not bring LASIK, cataract surgery, a surgical assessment or emergency treatment to your doorstep. Your examination and surgery take place at the confirmed NABH-accredited partner hospital. The surgeon decides suitability, treatment and discharge instructions; Wekure helps organise the agreed pathway.

Availability depends on city, hospital, addresses and booking arrangements. Confirm surgery-day pick-up and drop in writing before relying on it. Follow-up transport is available only where specifically confirmed; free follow-up coordination does not mean an unlimited cab service. Ask what is included, what is separately chargeable and who to contact if the travel plan changes.

    What should I confirm before surgery-day pick-up?

Share the exact collection address, access instructions, contact number and recovery address. These may differ if a parent will stay with family after surgery. Mention stairs, walking aids, wheelchair requirements and language or communication needs so support can be checked rather than assumed. Ask whether the hospital requires a companion and plan that person's availability.

Confirm the hospital arrival time, agreed collection arrangement, return-trip process and how changes are communicated. Follow the hospital's instructions about medicines, meals and preparation; a coordinator or driver does not replace clinical advice. Do not arrange independent driving after surgery. The treating team advises when driving or public transport becomes appropriate for your individual recovery.

How can families help an elderly parent?

Think beyond the cab. A parent may need help understanding the lens recommendation, keeping reports together, following the drop schedule and remembering appointments. Agree who will accompany the parent, who will hear discharge instructions and who will help at home. Bring current medicines and relevant reports, and do not change prescribed treatment without advice.

Ask the treating team to explain the drop plan to the person helping at home, with the patient's permission. Confirm practical questions such as bathing, reading, cooking and travel individually rather than using a fixed recovery deadline. If another eye needs surgery, the surgeon decides its timing; arrange any further transport and policy approval separately.

What if the family lives abroad?

With the patient's consent, a nominated family member can help gather reports, compare written estimates and receive booking or insurance updates. Agree what information may be shared, which channel will be used and who will attend the clinical discussion. Remote coordination helps with paperwork but does not replace the patient's consent or a local companion when the hospital requires one.

Plan who can help with drops, meals and review visits rather than assuming transport includes home nursing. Ask the hospital which home support is clinically needed. If the patient lives alone, identify a suitable local family member or carer and confirm their role. Tell the coordinator if the recovery address changes.

How are follow-ups and changes managed?

The treating team sets review dates and gives guidance for new symptoms. Wekure helps coordinate appointments; transport for those reviews is arranged where available and confirmed separately. Check whether the review takes place at the operating hospital or another clinical site, and what to do if you cannot attend. Do not skip a review because the eye feels comfortable.

For severe pain, sudden worsening of vision, an eye injury or other urgent concerns, contact the treating team or seek prompt local emergency care. Do not wait for a routine callback or a scheduled cab. This planning service is not an ambulance or emergency transport service.

How do estimates, insurance and EMI fit the travel plan?

Compare transport arrangements separately from the clinical estimate. Cataract is indicatively ₹20,000–₹1,50,000 per eye; LASIK is indicatively ₹40,000–₹1,20,000 for both eyes, with ICL separately estimated. Hospital, technique, lens and inclusions affect the final written quote. Ask whether additional tests, medicines, visits or travel involve separate charges.

Cataract cover is subject to policy terms and insurer approval, including waiting periods, sub-limits and co-payments. LASIK/ICL cover depends on policy clauses, often linked to minimum power. Wekure helps review documents and coordinate claim paperwork; the insurer decides. No-cost EMI is subject to lender approval and disclosed conditions. Insurance or finance does not establish clinical suitability.

Start with a free virtual planning conversation

Call or WhatsApp +91 95602 10161, Mon–Fri, 10 AM–8 PM, or use the enquiry form. After-hours enquiries receive a callback during care-team hours. Explain where the patient lives, which city they can attend and any mobility or companion needs. A care coordinator can help plan a hospital shortlist and estimate before the required in-person examination.

This page is general planning information. The surgeon decides treatment and recovery advice, and the insurer decides the claim. Confirm every transport arrangement where available before making commitments; this page is not a promise of nationwide doorstep availability.

    Straight answers

    Questions families often ask

Take your time with the details. A care coordinator can help you understand what to ask at your consultation.

Is eye surgery performed at home?

No. Doorstep support means transport and coordination. Eye examinations and surgery take place at the confirmed NABH-accredited partner hospital.

Is pick-up and drop available everywhere?

No. It is arranged where available, subject to city, addresses and booking confirmation. Enquiring from a city does not establish local availability.

    Are follow-up cab trips included?

Follow-up transport must be checked separately and is available only where confirmed. Ask which journeys and charges are included before booking.

Can you help my parent if I live abroad?

With the patient's consent, Wekure can coordinate booking and insurance updates with a nominated family member. Arrange a local companion or home support where the hospital advises it.

Can the driver help with eye drops or clinical care?

Transport is not nursing or medical care. Ask the hospital what help is needed at home and arrange an appropriate family member or carer.

    Does insurance cover transport?

Do not assume so. Cover depends on the policy; confirm transport inclusions separately from the surgery's insurance approval and written estimate.

    Is this emergency transport?

No. For an eye injury, severe pain or sudden vision loss, seek prompt medical care or local emergency services rather than waiting for routine transport.

Good decisions start with a calm conversation.
