Your surgery is performed by experienced eye surgeons at our NABH-accredited partner hospitals. Wekure Health manages your consultation, insurance, hospital booking and follow-up care.
Being abroad does not prevent you from helping with appointments or paperwork, but family coordination should not replace the patient's choices. This guide helps NRI and Gulf families plan from a distance without assuming a hospital address, a fixed travel period or automatic insurance approval.
How can family members help without taking over?
Ask your parent what support they want and who they authorise to receive updates. They may want help with appointments, policy documents or transport while keeping parts of the medical conversation private. Clarify how the clinical setting will communicate with the patient and any authorised family contact.
A relative abroad can help prepare questions and organise available records, but the patient still needs the necessary eye examination and gives treatment consent. Avoid discussing reports or policy details in public social comments. Agree a private channel and a local contact if someone will accompany the parent.
What does the cataract assessment establish?
Cataract involves clouding of the natural lens. The eye surgeon assesses the symptoms, the cataract and other eye findings before discussing whether surgery is appropriate. Do not assume every change in vision has the same cause or that an operation should be selected because a relative is visiting.
Share existing eye reports and the medicine and health information requested by the clinical team. If there is diabetes or another relevant condition, the surgeon considers that in the assessment. The care guide coordinates the appointment and records; medical decisions belong to the treating eye team.
How should a family discuss lens and technique options?
Ask how the proposed technique and lens match the examined eye and the parent's daily activities. Monofocal, toric, multifocal/trifocal and EDOF lenses have different considerations; a premium option is not automatically the most suitable one. The conversation should include glasses dependence and relevant visual compromises.
SICS, phaco, MICS and laser-assisted approaches are discussed according to suitability and availability. No technique is a guarantee of a result or an independent reason for an operation. Give the parent time to ask questions and request a written estimate that identifies the actual proposed approach and lens.
What do cost and insurance depend on?
Indicative cataract costs are ₹20,000–₹1,50,000 per eye, depending on technique, lens and inclusions. Ask what tests, medicines and follow-ups are included or separately payable. This is not a quotation for every parent, a total for both eyes or an estimate including family travel and accommodation.
Cataract is cashless with most health insurance and corporate plans, subject to terms, room-rent conditions, sub-limits, waiting periods and insurer approval. If using an employee policy covering parents, check the active dependent details and benefits. International policies also need review of treatment-location and claims conditions.
Wekure supports paperwork and claim queries end to end, while the insurer decides the claim. No-cost EMI is subject to lender approval and disclosed terms. If a separate LASIK or ICL enquiry arises, cover depends on policy clauses and document review rather than the cataract wording.

How are the hospital and transport confirmed?
Wekure Gulf helps coordinate an appropriate NABH-accredited partner-hospital appointment in the requested region, subject to individual confirmation. Kerala is a planning region, not a claim of a hospital in each town or a Wekure-owned eye hospital. Ask for the actual clinical address before arranging travel.
Surgery-day pick-up and drop and free follow-ups are arranged within the agreed pathway. Confirm the collection point, accompanying person and scope rather than assuming all family journeys are included. If you are abroad during treatment, agree how the authorised family contact will receive practical updates.
What should the family plan after treatment?
Recovery time depends on the procedure and the parent's health; the treating team gives a personal plan. Ask about medicines, eye protection, activity and required reviews. An illustrative Personalised care plan is not a promise of surgery, recovery or flight clearance, and it need not be appropriate for a parent staying in Kerala.
Keep instructions and clinical contact information accessible to the parent and authorised helper. Confirm any separately payable tests or medicines and what follow-up can be arranged remotely. Routine coordination is available Mon–Fri, 10 AM–8 PM with callbacks after hours; urgent eye concerns need appropriate medical help rather than an administrative reply.

Questions families ask
Can I enquire from Oman while my parent is in Kerala?
Yes. You can help with an appointment enquiry and documents with your parent's consent. The patient still needs the required clinical assessment and gives treatment consent. Authorised contacts and local support are agreed individually.
Is the indicative price for each eye?
Yes. Cataract planning uses ₹20,000–₹1,50,000 per eye, depending on technique, lens and inclusions. Request a written individual estimate and ask what is separately payable.
Can my employer policy cover my parent?
Only if the parent is included in the current plan and the proposed treatment meets its terms. Check dependent eligibility, limits and insurer approval. Wekure helps review documents but cannot guarantee the decision.
Does Wekure own the eye hospital?
No. Eye surgery is performed by experienced eye surgeons at NABH-accredited partner hospitals. Wekure Health manages consultation, insurance, booking and follow-up coordination; the actual setting is confirmed individually.
Should we choose a premium lens?
Not automatically. The eye surgeon discusses suitable lens options with the patient based on the examined eye and visual priorities. Ask about glasses dependence, visual compromises, cost and what the insurer may contribute.
Can a family member decide the recovery schedule?
No. The treating team gives a personal plan based on the procedure and health. Family support can help follow instructions and attend reviews, but travel and activity should not be planned around a fixed recovery promise.
